Let's Begin:

The Face & Head:

If you want to learn to sculpt a head of your own like I did click the link above :

What I did was I bought a Funkin from Micheal's Craft Store and cut an area out In the pumpkin that I wanted the face to fit into. I then cut the top of the pumpkin off like you do on real pumpkins to gut them. Then I cut a round hole in the bottom of the pumpkin using a 1/2" door knob cutter to make a round hole to fit down over my sculpting peg on my stand. I then made a large ball of aluminum foil to fit down over the peg inside the head. And Covered this with clay once I had done this step I then started to build the clay up on the outside of the pumpkin using more aluminum foil and clay.. Then I started to sculpt my face  for my  Prop.. If you choice to do this step you will need the tutorial from sculpting to putting the head together..  How To's

If you don't want it try and sculpt your own face skip that step and make you our Jack-o-lantern by just carving the funkin like a real pumpkin..

The Frame:

You cut the metal PVC pipe with a skill saw and carbon blade . Keep your receipt when you buy the pipe Lowe's will  thread the pipe for you so you can put it together again. Like you do when you make plastic PVC frames.. At No charge..

Using your own body measurements to figure out how tall you want him to be.  Cut 2-Shoulder pieces approx 4", cut 2- Upper Arms approx 6", cut 2- Lower Arms approx 5", cut 1- Torso Rod approx 26", cut 2- Hips approx 4", cut 2- Legs approx 2'6".

                                                                                                                                                      The Body:

Make your Chicken Wire Body By rolling The chicken wire into a large tube and duct tape it. You May need some help for this part. Then By sniping and tucking begin to form your Reaper body. Using the Duct Tape to hold it to together. Make a neck with no Head .. Duct tape till you have 3 layers of Duct tape on your chicken wire frame. Cut a seam up the back of the body and insert the T-frame part of the  frame. Re-close the seam with duct tape. The Put on your Gloves so you can use your Great Stuff to shoot it into the body. To help it keep it's shape. Please Use Gloves GREAT STUFF  DOES NOT COME OFF SKIN OR Clothes. Please Be CAREFUL !!! Once the Great stuff has set up then you can add the bottom half of the frame.

The Arms & Hands:

Put your Arms to together on your prop . Cut you coat Hanger wire at the neck of the Hanger so it forms a large " Y " . Straighten out the Hooked part of the coat Hanger wire and re-bend it into a loop so it will fit inside the pipe.  Drill a hole through the pipe end so it passes through the pipe into the loop of the cloth Hanger, Holding the Loop sort of in place. Mix a small amount of Marnie Putty by kneading it wrap this around the handle part of the Coat Hanger that is in the pipe stuffing it into the pipe to Hold it in Place.  The Putty will setup and get hard in Minutes. Then Bend the Hanger into a square  " Y " trim the hanger to fit the Palm of the skeleton hand. using your pliers to shape the wire.  Remove the springs of the skeleton with your snips the ones between the  fingers. Pinch off some more putty and kneed it and put it between the joints of the fingers shaping the hand the way you want it to look. Let this dry.. Once this has all dried you then can spray paint the skeleton hand and pipe black. The put on the insulating tubing for the pipe as arm stuffing.. Dry Brush the hand with some craft paint to match the color of your Pumpkin Head.

The Legs:

Screw The pipe lower half of your pumpkin Reaper to the top half . and Dress him in his costume. He will be ready to go into the yard .. ( Yard Mount only Style )Finished Reaper

** If you are putting him on your porch then you will have to screw  the floor flanges to the plywood and then screw each pipe leg into the flange then screw the hip section on . Then The upper body part You kind of have to work backwards with this part of the set up..***

Then you can  paint or put dirt or moss or what ever you like to hide the plywood. Hay or some other type of material like Mulch..

Place the Head in the hand and you are ready for Halloween !!!
